There was no obvious reason for this (I have a clean record) and the explanations that were offered made no sense (second year of a claims made policy, etc.) I asked a well-regarded local broker to find an alternative, and he blustered for 3 or 4 weeks, but in the end was unable to produce one (possibly because of a slightly unusual practice situation). With little time remaining I happened upon Mr. Leander on the Internet. Unlike the brokers with which I had worked previously, he seemed thoroughly competent and knowledgeable, and within a few days was able to write a policy with a major carrier at about one third the cost of continuing my existing coverage. Needless to say, I'm glad I found him, and would recommend him to anyone, anywhere in the country, needing any kind of malpractice insurance policy.

I would like to make a few comments about David of MyMedicalMalpracticeInsurance.com. I am a physician who practiced at a major medical center for over 20 years in the Chicago area. Due to a prolonged illness, I was out of work for almost 3 years. I was accepted on staff of a community hospital and sought malpractice insurance from a major Illinois firm.
